9th INFANTRY DIVISION REUNION in Columbia, SC – October 2008

 

Here are the dates and hotel info for our reunion in 2008 at Columbia, S.C.

The dates are Thursday, October 23, thru Sunday, October 26, 2008.

When making reservations, be sure to mention that you are with the 9th Infantry Division Society.

 

This is an all-suite hotel; our room rate is $79 per night (plus taxes, etc.). 

 

There is free high-speed Internet access available.  Parking is also free, as is an expanded continental breakfast (includes cereals and fruits), which is served in the breakfast area.

 

There are no restaurants on the premises, but there are a number of them nearby, including Applebee’s, Ruby Tuesday’s, TGIFridays, Shoneys, Pizza Hut, Panera Bread and others.

2008 REUNION AGENDA

 

THURSDAY OCTOBER 23

15:00 hours: BOD meeting in Hospitality Room.

16:00 hours: Hospitality Room set up/open for incoming members.

Evening: Dinner on your own, informal get-togethers in Hospitality Room.

 

FRIDAY OCTOBER 24

Early morning: Breakfast on your own.

08:30 hours: Begin gathering for caravan to Ft Jackson; discuss ideas on where to go on post, etc.

09:00 hours: Depart by bus to Ft. Jackson

15:00 hours (approx):  Return to hotel from Ft. Jackson and Hospitality Room re-opens.

17:00 hours: Meal provided by Society served.

18:00 hours: Return to Hospitality Room for socializing.

 

SATURDAY OCTOBER 25

Early morning: Breakfast on your own.

09:00 hours Membership meeting of 9th ID Society.  (Meeting agenda to be developed later)

10:00 hours: Groups depart for tours of various local attractions—

15:00 hours: Return to hotel, Hospitality Room re-opens for socializing.

17:00 hours: Members & spouses gather for group photos.

18:00 hours: Group dinner.

20:00 hours: Final informal gathering in Hospitality Room.

 

SUNDAY OCTOBER 26

Early morning: Breakfast on your own.

09:00 hours: Hospitality Room open for farewells, etc.

12:00 hours: reunion “officially” ends.

Hello Veteran,

 

Plans for the Forth reunion of the 709th Maint. Bn and 99th CSB Association have been made.  You are invited to join your brothers-in-arms from the Viet Nam War and enjoy the warmest and friendly welcome you’ve ever experienced.

Wednesday, Sept.17th after  6:00 Pm

Gather at Dean's for a get acquainted/reacquainted social with beverages, food, registration, and agenda for Thru, Fri. and Sat. including instructions for the bus trip to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial & the other War Memorial & the Executive Office Building.  A nominal cost of $25.00 per person to defray the rental cost of the bus.

 

 

Thursday, Sept 18th – 8:00AM. - depart Hampton Inn for tour of Vietnam Memorial.  Lunch available at the West Potomac Park - pay as you go.

4:00 PM. Return to Hampton Inn.

6:00 PM. Dinner, - food, drink and merriment at Dean's residence.

 Till 9:00 PM

 

Friday Sept 19th -10:00 AM. - Gather at Dean's - coffee and beverages available.

12:00 AM. - Lunch

Trap shooting, swimming, horse shoes.

1:00 to 3:00 PM. Soldier stories chaired by Ken Foss.

6:00 PM. - Dinner, beverages and socializing.

Till 9:00 PM  

 

Saturday Sept 20th 10:00 AM. - Gather at Dean's - coffee and beverages available.

3:00 PM. Business meeting -- see business agenda.

4:30 PM. - Hay ride.

6:00 PM. - Dinner, beverages and socializing.

9:00 PM. - fireworks and closing of reunion 

9:30 PM - remembrance ceremony and Closing the 2008 reunion .
